Due to the recent announcement of Michigan schools being physically closed for the remainder of the school year, we have cancelled both the Middle School and High School trips originally scheduled for May.
We have received word that students taking part in the Middle School trip to Chicago will be able to receive a full refund. We are still waiting on information regarding refunds for the High School NYC trip from our travel agency. We will update everyone involved as soon as we know more.
Please be safe and healthy! Thank you!
Thanks to the work from the Festival Host and our administration, we have a new performance date!
Our performance will be 2:05pm on March 3rd at Chelsea High School. We will leave WHS at around 11:00am, stop for lunch on the way up, then head to Chelsea for our performance. We expect the bus to come back to WHS at around 4:00pm. Please make arrangements to pick up students since we will miss the afternoon bus run.
Due to poor weather conditions, both Whiteford Agricultural Schools and our Festival Host district, Chelsea High School, are closed today. We will not be attending band festival today. Efforts are being made to reschedule for a later date, and information will be posted here as it is becomes available.
This past Saturday, the Whiteford High School Marching Band took part in Eastern Michigan University's band day. Our marching band joined a dozen other bands from around the state and performed a massed band performance during halftime at the EMU vs. WMU game. Kids had a lot of fun cheering in the stands, meeting students from other high schools, and making new friends.
Thanks to everyone who made it to the meeting tonight. Here are some highlights:
Todd’s sound system is installed and in use and is very much appreciated! This system will be moved to the new room when the levy passes! Ensemble singers will carol at the Toledo Zoo on December 19, and more performances are in the works. He will secure the rights for this years musical, Fiddler on the Roof, in the coming weeks!
From Mr. Welling:
The title says it all, I'm afraid. I really didn't want to call this, but the weather in Sandusky tomorrow has Thunderstorms all day, especially during the time we'd be riding rides from 12-8pm.
I know a lot of people will be let down by this, but I think cancelling now will allow us to get money back to families and is really the right call. I don't want us marching in the rain, and we won't march if there's lightning. Since we aren't allowed in until we march, this makes the most sense.
This upcoming Tuesday (August 13th) we will be hosting an informational meeting at the MS/HS Library from 7:00-8:00pm. All new and returning members and families are invited to come out, as this will also be a chance to get to know each other a little bit better.
Immediately following the informational meeting, we will hold a music booster meeting, for which everyone is encouraged to stay to find out more about all the wonderful things the boosters do to support music at Whiteford.
Just a reminder to all MB families, our band camp starts two weeks from today! Camp is held August 19th-23rd at the high school. We meet each day from 8-3, and lunches will be provided Tuesday through Friday.
New families (and returning families too!) are encouraged to attend an informational meeting at the high school library Tuesday, August 13th at 7:00pm. Afterwards will be a Music Booster meeting for which everyone is welcome to stick around.
For more information, please see the Marching Band page.
